Baseball Recap: San Luis Picks Up Fourth Straight Win at Home

San Luis got themselves on the board against Gila Ridge on Thursday, but Gila Ridge never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 12-0 margin over the Hawks. The Sidewinders have beaten the Hawks the last five times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Hawks has come to flipping the script.

Jared Burgueno tossed a big game, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits over 4.1 innings pitched. He has become a key player for San Luis: the team is 5-1 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 9-11 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Carlos Gonzales, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. San Luis is 4-1 when Gonzales posts three or more hits, but 10-11 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Rodolfo Acosta, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one run.

San Luis kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Gila Ridge only managed one hit.

San Luis pushed their record up to 14-12 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for Gila Ridge, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 11 of their last 12 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-21 record this season.

San Luis will head out to face off against Skyline at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. Gila Ridge does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
