Softball Recap: Union Area Has No Trouble Against South Side

Union Area got themselves on the board against South Side on Wednesday, but South Side never followed suit. They blew past the Rams 7-0. The Scotties haven't had any issues with the Rams recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.

Not much got past Mia Preuhs, who gave up just a hit and racked up 20 Ks to keep South Side off the board. Preuhs has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Union Area let Irelyn Fisher and Olivia Benedict run wild. Fisher went 3-for-4 with one home run and two RBI, while Benedict went 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Olivia Williams was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

Union Area was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as South Side only posted a batting average of .045.

Union Area's victory bumped their record up to 5-1. As for South Side, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-5.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Union Area beat the Rams by a score of 7-0 later that day.
