Benton had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They blew past the Vinton-Shellsburg Vikings 3-0 on Tuesday. The Bobcats not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since September 24, 2024 (when they won 3-0).

Benton not only won, but also showed off some consistency: they kept Vinton-Shellsburg between 16 and 18 points across their sets. The match finished with set scores of 25-16, 25-18, 25-18.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Benton will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Williamsburg at 5:00 p.m. on September 9. As for Vinton-Shellsburg, they are headed away from home for the first time to challenge Charles City at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
