Baseball Game Preview: Charlotte S Stampede vs. Grace Academy Lions

The Charlotte S Stampede are taking a road trip to square off against the Grace Academy Lions at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.

On Thursday, Charlotte S came up short against South Stanly and fell 7-3. That's two games in a row now that the Stampede have lost by exactly four runs.

Bowen Macy made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one triple and one run. That's the most hits he has posted over his last ten contests. Another player making a difference was Jandel Rodriguez, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Grace Academy got themselves on the board against Union Preparatory on Thursday, but Union Preparatory never followed suit. They blew past the Polar Bears 15-0. The Lions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matches by nine runs or more this season.

Aiden Morris looked comfortable as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Brody Mcnamara, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-3. Grace Academy is undefeated when Mcnamara posts two or more runs, but 3-4 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Fletcher Owens, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Grace Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .719. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Grace Academy is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. This is the second loss in a row for Charlotte S and nudges their season record down to 7-10.
