Football Game Preview: Corydon Central Panthers vs. Madison Cubs

The Corydon Central Panthers will take on the Madison Cubs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Things were looking good for Corydon Central after they put the first points on the board on Friday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They were just a hair shy of victory and fell 27-26 to Charlestown. The Panthers gained 153 more yards on the day, but it was the Pirates that made the best use of them.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Dane Naiman, who rushed for 53 yards and one touchdown, and also threw for 118 yards and one TD on only nine passes. He also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, making eight total tackles and defending one pass. Bobby Sharp was another key player, rushing for 39 yards.

While Corydon Central came up short, they sure didn't make it easy for Charlestown: they limited their QB to completion percentage of just 38.1%. That dominant aerial defense primarily came from two players: Naiman and Jack Fessel, who each logged one passes deflected. Corydon Central hasn't an opponent to post a completion percentage of 0.5 or higher in three consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Madison was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss dating back to last season. They were outmatched by Brownstown Central and fell 63-7. The Cubs were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 49-0.

Corydon Central's defeat dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Madison, their loss dropped their record down to 0-7.
