Recap: Holcomb Longhorns vs. Riley County Falcons
The Holcomb Longhorns came tearing into Thursday's game with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Riley County and snuck past 30-28. Despite the victory, that was the fewest points Holcomb has scored all year.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Holcomb to victory, but perhaps none more so than Brooklyn Deniston, who scored 11 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Deniston has scored all season. Isabella Galliart was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with five rebounds.
Holcomb pushed their record up to 8-2 with that victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Riley County, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-6.
Holcomb will look to defend their home court on Friday against Hesston at 2:30 p.m. Hesston will be coming into the game with an undefeated record on the line. As for Riley County, they will head out on the road to challenge Eureka on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Kansas (Eureka is ranked 86th, while Riley County is ranked 108th).
