Basketball Recap: Bridges Prep Takes a Loss

Bridges Prep was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a blow against the Hampton County Hurricanes, falling 63-28. The Buccaneers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 36-13.

Despite the loss, Bridges Prep saw an underclassman step up: freshman Addie Taylor posted eight points along with 17 rebounds and five blocks. Taylor is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down eight or more in each of the last 16 games she's played.

Hampton County was led to victory by Lyric Jones and Saniyah Sanders. Jones went 6-for-15 en route to 14 points and eight steals, while Sanders went 6-for-7 on her way to 14 points and six rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Sanders a new career-high in field goal percentage (86%). Another player making a difference was Malayah Green, who earned six points and six steals.

Bridges Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 4-14. As for Hampton County, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season.

Bridges Prep didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 53-25 loss against Barnwell on the 12th. As for Hampton County, they have also already played their next contest, a 51-46 defeat against Lake Marion on the 13th.
