Volleyball Recap: San Leandro's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Thursday

After flying high against Piedmont on Tuesday, San Leandro came back down to earth. The Pirates fell just short of the Berkeley Yellowjackets by a score of 3-2 on Thursday. The Pirates were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Yellowjackets earlier this season, when they won 3-0.

San Leandro took a 2-1 lead headed into the fourth set, but sadly they lost the next two. The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 15-25, 21-25, 25-21, 15-8.

Several Pirates players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Eric Stowe, who had 19 digs and two aces. With that strong performance, Stowe is now averaging an impressive 10 digs per game.

With the defeat, San Leandro broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 16-9. As for Berkeley, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-12.

As of now, neither San Leandro nor the Yellowjackets have any future games scheduled.
