Last Tuesday, Lone Star strolled past Peetz with points to spare, taking the game 62-45. The win made it back-to-back wins for Lone Star.
Lone Star's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Aimee Trejo, who scored 16 points. Aleighcea Kuntz was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.
Meanwhile, Union Colony Prep couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They were dealt a 65-25 defeat at the hands of Windsor Charter Academy on Friday. Union Colony Prep was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 39-13.
Despite the defeat, Union Colony Prep saw an underclassman step up: Soliana Gebremskel scored 6 points along with 8 rebounds and 6 steals.
Union Colony Prep struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Windsor Charter Academy posted 11.
Lone Star's win bumped their season record to 2-0 while Peetz's loss dropped theirs to 0-3.
Lone Star beat Union Colony Prep 38-25 in their previous matchup back in December of 2022. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lone Star since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
