Topsail has gone a perfect 3-0 against Swansboro recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. Topsail will welcome Swansboro at 6:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Swansboro will be up against a hot Topsail team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. Topsail walked away with a 10-5 victory over Ashley on Tuesday.
Addison Ash spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on eight hits.
On the hitting side, Brooklyn Beatty was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Easton J'Anthony, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
Beatty wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Topsail kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive games dating back to last season.
Meanwhile, Swansboro beat Ashley 12-8 on Wednesday.
Addison McMillan made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in runs.
In other batting news, Payton Jensen was incredible, going 3-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Katherine Cahall was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
Topsail's win bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Swansboro, their victory ended a four-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 4-3.
Everything went Topsail's way against Swansboro when the teams last played back in February of 2024, as Topsail made off with a 13-2 win. Will Topsail repeat their success, or does Swansboro have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
