Basketball Recap: Caleb Lapka Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat San Diego Jewish Academy

There's no place like home for Calvin Christian, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They came out on top against the San Diego Jewish Academy Lions by a score of 48-39 on Tuesday. This was a revenge game for the Crusaders: when they faced off against the Lions back in January, they had to take a 60-56 loss.

Calvin Christian's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Caleb Lapka, who dropped a double-double with 11 points and 12 boards. Calvin Christian is 7-3 when Lapka posts eight or more rebounds, but 3-7 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Sawyer Goggin, who posted 18 points and six boards.

When it comes to explaining why San Diego Jewish Academy lost, don't look at Jack Silberstein. Despite the final result, he almost dropped a double-double with 17 points and nine rebounds. That was a full 43.6% of San Diego Jewish Academy's points, marking the third time in a row he's put up more than a third of the team's points. Adam Hazan also deserves some recognition as he posted his first assist of the season.
