Baseball Recap: Creighton Prep Comes Up Short in High-Profile Matchup with Bellevue West

Creighton Prep faced Bellevue West in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. The Junior Jays fell 5-2 to the Thunderbirds. The Junior Jays were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Thunderbirds apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Creighton Prep got a good showing from Stephen Patterson, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave Patterson a new career-low in walks (one).

At the plate, Braden Caito made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Logan Burchfiel, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases.

Creighton Prep has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 16-14 record this season. As for Bellevue West, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 19-9.

As of now, neither Creighton Prep nor the Thunderbirds have any future games scheduled.
