Baseball Recap: Barnwell Comes Up Short

Barnwell had lost three straight on the road, but on Saturday they dropped down to 14-14 to make it four. They fell just short of the Chesterfield Golden Rams by a score of 8-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Warhorses have suffered since April 17th.

Vincent Gibson and Carl Hines did some serious damage despite the final result: Gibson went 2-for-3 with two RBI, while Hines went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Colton Smith was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one RBI.

As for Chesterfield, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games.

On Chesterfield's side, Bryce Adams was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing four innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits. Adams has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Will Evans, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March of 2025. Another player making a difference was Avery Keith, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

As of now, neither Barnwell nor Chesterfield have any future games scheduled.
