Volleyball Recap: Heritage Christian Warriors vs. Whittier Christian Heralds
Heritage Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Whittier Christian Heralds. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Heralds this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 back in March.
Heritage Christian started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 15-25, 25-11, 25-14, 25-21.
Whittier Christian found their leader in sophomore Anwar Klewer, who had 13 digs and two assists. Mark Zamarripa also deserves some recognition as he had his first dig of the season.
Heritage Christian's loss dropped their record down to 2-17. As for Whittier Christian, the win snapped their losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 6-15 record.
We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Heritage Christian is set to face off against their familiar foe Village Christian at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Whittier Christian will challenge rival Maranatha at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
