The Southern Rams will face off against the Mountain Ridge Miners on Thursday. Southern is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.2 runs per game this season.

Southern managed to slip by Frankfort the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Rams came up short against the Falcons on Wednesday, falling 13-5. The Rams' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Brayden Upole and Reece Tasker did some serious damage despite the final result: Upole scored a run while going 2-for-4, while Tasker scored two runs while going 1-for-2. Ben Lohr also deserves some recognition as he got his first hits of the season.

Meanwhile, Mountain Ridge suffered their closest loss since April 15, 2024 on Thursday. They fell just short of Hancock by a score of 3-1. The game marked the Miners' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Southern's defeat dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Mountain Ridge, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-4.

Southern took their victory against Mountain Ridge in their previous meeting back in March by a conclusive 13-3 score. Will the Rams repeat their success, or do the Miners have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
