Basketball Game Preview: Las Cruces Bulldawgs vs. Centennial Hawks

Las Cruces is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Centennial is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Las Cruces Bulldawgs will host the Centennial Hawks at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

On Monday, Las Cruces was fully in charge, breezing past Alamogordo 58-22. Given the Bulldawgs' advantage in MaxPreps' New Mexico basketball rankings (they are ranked 14th, while the Tigers are ranked 81st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Centennial). They blew past Organ Mountain 61-39 on Monday.

Las Cruces has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 16-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.3 points over those games. As for Centennial, their victory bumped their record up to 11-13.

Las Cruces came out on top in a nail-biter against Centennial in their previous meeting two weeks ago, sneaking past 45-43. Will Las Cruces repeat their success, or does Centennial have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
