Softball Recap: Hough Snaps 12-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

Hough dropped their record down to 18-3 on Wednesday, which also ended the team's 12-game streak of wins on the road dating back to last season. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Providence Panthers. Considering the last time the Huskies couldn't score was back in March, the team can't take the result too hard.

As for Providence, they pushed their record up to 18-4 with the win, which was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games.

For Providence's part, the result came thanks to Sophie Strugar's shutout, as she gave up just four hits and racked up seven Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Casey Tomljanovic, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Coming up, Hough will head out to square off against Mallard Creek at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Providence, they will be playing in front of their home fans against East Mecklenburg at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Eagles have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.95 runs per game on average), something the Panthers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
