Volleyball Recap: Northwestern Comes Up Short

Northwestern lost against Eastern back in October of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Tigers lost 3-0 to the Comets. The Tigers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

While Northwestern was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the second set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 25-23, 25-16.

Ayla Jackson paced Northwestern's offense, picking up eight kills. Jackson got some help from Tessa Ortman and her 16 assists. Ortman was also solid from the service line: she led the team with five aces.

Leading Eastern to victory were Savannah Smith and Lauren Hendricks. Smith had six digs and four aces, while Hendricks had 11 digs and three aces. Hendricks has been hot recently, having posted 11 or more digs the last three times she's played.

Northwestern's defeat dropped their record down to 7-17. As for Eastern, they pushed their record up to 20-7 with the victory, which was their 22nd straight on the road dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Northwestern will be playing in front of their home fans against Northfield at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Eastern, they will head out to square off against Carroll at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
