Basketball Recap: Agua Fria Takes a Loss

It was a Battle of the Birds when Agua Fria took on Mohave on Friday. The Agua Fria Owls took a 61-50 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mohave Thunderbirds. The Owls just can't catch a break and have now endured three defeats in a row.

Despite the loss, Agua Fria saw an underclassman step up: freshman Jason Mitchell posted seven points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryan Burrows, who put up five points and six rebounds.

Mohave was led to victory by Kingzten Bristol and Gavin Holmes. Bristol had 30 points, while Holmes earned 19 points. The game was Bristol's fifth in a row with at least ten points.

Agua Fria's defeat dropped their record down to 10-10. As for Mohave, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 9-7 record this season.

Agua Fria wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 68-64 loss against Peoria on the 21st. Mohave has also already played their next game, a 109-29 defeat against Prescott on the 24th.
