Soccer Game Preview: Gilbert vs. Aiken

The Gilbert Indians will look to take advantage of their home pitch for the first time this season as they take on the Aiken Fighting Green Hornets at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Gilbert is coming home in high spirits after they had to open their season on the road against North Augusta. Gilbert's defense stepped up to hand North Augusta a 1-0 shutout on Monday. Zoe Bart had the honor of scoring the game-winner for the Indians.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Aiken and Airport meet (five straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Monday. Aiken was the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over Airport.

Gilbert took their victory against Aiken when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 4-0. Will Gilbert repeat their success, or does Aiken have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
