Wakeland will head into Friday's game hoping to keep the good times rolling: they had to skate by with only a three-point margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the 32-point drubbing they dealt The Colony on Friday. Wakeland took their contest with ease, bagging a 61-29 victory over The Colony. The Wolverines have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight matchups by 24 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Newman Smith blew past Turner, posting a 67-17 win. Given the Trojans' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 201st, while the Lions are ranked 1345th), the result on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Newman Smith's victory bumped their record up to 12-2. As for Wakeland, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-3 record this season.
