Basketball Recap: Jackson Ironman/Ironladies vs. Chillicothe Cavaliers
Make it seven blowout wins for the Jackson Ironman/Ironladies this season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Saturday as they easily beat Chillicothe 66-31 on the road. The victory was familiar territory for Jackson who now have eight in a row.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Jackson to victory, but perhaps none more so than Mattie Walburn, who scored 21 points along with six assists and five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Walburn has scored all season. T.j. Carpenter was another key contributor, scoring 24 points along with seven rebounds and six steals.
Jackson has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-2 record this season. As for Chillicothe, their loss was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-17.
Jackson will head out on the road to square off against the Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Waverly is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last four games. As for Chillicothe, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against the Blue Devils at 7:00 p.m. Gallia Academy is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak.
