Baseball Game Preview: Cooper Bulldogs vs. Saltillo Lions

The Cooper Bulldogs will venture away from home to square off against the Saltillo Lions at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Cooper has three straight victories, Saltillo has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

On Thursday, Cooper got the win against Campbell by a conclusive 17-2. Considering the Bulldogs have won eight matches by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

John Ramos made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Cooper got a big performance out of Jace Meeks, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Levi Oneal was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Cooper hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Saltillo came up short against Wolfe City on Tuesday, falling 16-2.

Cooper's record is now 12-5. As for Saltillo, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-10.
