Basketball Recap: Kellen Green's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Oxford over South Haven

Oxford entered their matchup against South Haven on Thursday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Oxford Wildcats took a 68-59 hit to the loss column at the hands of the South Haven Cardinals. The Wildcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cardinals apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.

Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kellen Green, who went 6 of 12 on his way to 17 points and eight boards. Green's morning made it seven games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Cordell Jordan was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on nine points and 11 rebounds.

Oxford's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 8-2. As for South Haven, they now have a winning record of 6-5.

Oxford wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 57-55 victory against Dexter on the 25th. As for South Haven, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 0-0 tie against Central on the 25th.
