Volleyball Recap: Mauston Comes Up Short

The Mauston Golden Eagles didn't have quite enough to beat the Independence/Gilmanton Indees on Saturday and fell 2-1. The Golden Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

Their offense was headlined by Breanna Heller and Yvonne Rotzoll, who picked up five kills apiece. They got some help from Sophia Brummond and her eight assists. Kira Clemens controlled things from the service line, finishing with five aces.

Mauston's defeat dropped their record down to 16-9. As for Independence/Gilmanton, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 6-9.

Mauston has already played their next contest, a 2-1 victory against La Crosse Logan on the 11th. As for Independence/Gilmanton, they are taking a road trip to take on Melrose-Mindoro at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
