Softball Recap: Algonac Extends Winning Streak to Four

Algonac extended their winning streak to four on Tuesday, bumping their season record up to 14-12-1 in the process. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Almont Raiders 3-1. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Muskrats also won the last time the pair played back in June of 2023.

Jaycee Reams spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Ava Murray, who went 3-for-4 with two runs. Those two runs gave her a new career-high.

As for Almont, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 6-7-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat they have suffered against Algonac since April 23, 2019.

On Almont's side, they saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brooklyn Bunch, who went 2-for-3 with one double.

Algonac has already played their next matchup (against Woodhaven), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Almont also has no score uploaded for their next contest, this one against Lutheran North.
