Softball Recap: Bethel Park Takes a Loss

Bethel Park extended their losing streak to six on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 6-7 in the process. They fell 9-4 to the Canon-McMillan Big Macs. Black Hawks fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Big Macs since on Tuesday.

As for Canon-McMillan, they pushed their record up to 12-10 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.6 runs over those games.

For Canon-McMillan's part, Brooke Bumer looked comfortable as she pitched three innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. Bumer has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Skylah Steban, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in March. Another player making a difference was Hailey Swope, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Coming up, Bethel Park will challenge South Fayette at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Canon-McMillan does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
