Bellflower owes their defense a big pat on the back after their performance on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 26-0 margin over the Paramount Pirates. The result was nothing new for the Buccaneers, who have now won nine contests by 20 points or more so far this season.

Bellflower found their leader in freshman Kendyll Upshaw, who threw for 137 yards and three TDs, and also rushed for 47 yards and one touchdown.

Bellflower didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Kayla Williams, Upshaw, Ta'Lia Johnson, and Jazelle Miller picked up one apiece.

Bellflower is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 4.9 points on average over those games. As for Paramount, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-12.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Bellflower will challenge rival Corona at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday. Meanwhile, Paramount is set to square off against their familiar foe Norwalk at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
