East Hampton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Coginchaug Regional Blue Devils. The Bellringers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Blue Devils apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September.
East Hampton couldn't get the win, but they sure gave Coginchaug Regional a tough time in the third set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 23-25, 30-28, 25-22.
Despite the defeat, East Hampton saw an underclassman step up: Ava France had seven digs and three aces. That's the most aces France has posted in her last six games.
Even though they lost, East Hampton was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 13 aces. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Coginchaug Regional only served five.
Coginchaug Regional got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Addy Martin out in front who had 15 digs. The team also got some help courtesy of Jenny Zaclli, who had eight digs.
East Hampton's loss dropped their record down to 9-8. As for Coginchaug Regional, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-9.
East Hampton has already played their next contest, a 3-0 win against Portland on the 16th. As for Coginchaug Regional, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 3-0 defeat against Nonnewaug on the 18th.
