Basketball Recap: Western Hills Takes a Loss

Western Hills lost against Woodward back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Western Hills Mustangs were outmatched by the Woodward Bulldogs and fell 58-23. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 739th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 245th).

Arielle Gee was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 23 points and 19 boards for Woodward. That makes it seven consecutive games in which Gee has scored at least a third of Woodward's points. Nyarie Bray was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on nine points and nine rebounds.

Western Hills is on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-9. As for Woodward, their victory bumped their record up to 10-3.

Western Hills is taking a road trip to face off against Aiken at 7:30 p.m. on January 22nd. Woodward has already played their next contest, a 73-27 win against Taft on the 16th.
