Basketball Game Preview: University Lab Cubs vs. St. Michael Warriors

The University Lab Cubs will head out on the road to take on the St. Michael Warriors at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Last Tuesday, University Lab was able to grind out a solid win over Episcopal, taking the game 67-58. Given the Cubs' advantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 33rd, while the Knights are ranked 182nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask St. Michael). They breezed by Broadmoor to the tune of 80-46 on Tuesday. Winning may never get old, but the Warriors sure are getting used to it with their fifth in a row.

St. Michael has also been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 24-11 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.7 points per game. As for University Lab, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 20-8.

University Lab was able to grind out a solid win over St. Michael in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, winning 44-35. Does University Lab have another victory up their sleeve, or will St. Michael turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
