Basketball Game Preview: Chaney Cowboys vs. St. Vincent-St. Mary Fighting Irish

Chaney is 0-5 against St. Vincent-St. Mary since January of 2021 but things could change on Friday. The Chaney Cowboys will face off against the St. Vincent-St. Mary Fighting Irish at 7:30 p.m. Chaney will be strutting in after a victory while St. Vincent-St. Mary will be coming in after a defeat.

Chaney took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They walked away with a 51-44 win over Cardinal Mooney. Given the Cowboys' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 141st, while the Cardinals are ranked 382nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, St. Vincent-St. Mary was just a bucket shy of victory on Tuesday and fell 66-65 to Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy. The Fighting Irish have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Chaney's victory bumped their record up to 9-6. As for St. Vincent-St. Mary, their loss dropped their record down to 7-7.

Chaney couldn't quite finish off St. Vincent-St. Mary when the teams last played back in January of 2024 and fell 69-66. Can Chaney avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
