Basketball Recap: Arthur-Okaw Christian Extends Home Winning Streak to Six

You're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter, and that's exactly how it played out for Arthur-Okaw Christian on Friday. They put the hurt on the Heritage Hawks with a sharp 62-39 win. The victory was nothing new for the Conquering Riders as they're now sitting on three straight.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Arthur-Okaw Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kyson Pflum, who went 6 for 13 on his way to 17 points in addition to seven rebounds and five assists. Pflum's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brock Helmuth, who went 7 for 11 on his way to 17 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals.

Pflum wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Arthur-Okaw Christian was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Heritage only racked up nine assists.

Despite the defeat, Heritage had strong showings from Rylan White, who posted 12 points, and Jacob Bensyl, who went 5 of 12 on his way to 13 points.

Arthur-Okaw Christian's win was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-3. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.5 points per game. As for Heritage, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-6.

Arthur-Okaw Christian will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Walther Christian Academy at 1:00 p.m. on January 4, 2025. Arthur-Okaw Christian is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57.5 points per game this season. Heritage and Mt. Pulaski will round out the year against one another at at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday. Heritage is facing Mt. Pulaski at the right time seeing as Mt. Pulaski is stuck on a six-game losing streak.
