Football Recap: Dexter Demons vs. Jal Panthers
Dexter took care of business in their home opener on Friday (and then some). They really took it to the Jal Panthers for the full four quarters, racking up a 58-7 win at home. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 44-7.
Julian Manzanares went supernova for Dexter, rushing for 126 yards and two touchdowns on only eight carries, while also catching a touchdown. Manzanares got the majority of those yards when he took off on a run and that went for an incredible65 yards. Another player making a difference was Cj Granados, who threw for 131 yards and two touchdowns on only eight passes.
Dexter's defense was in the mix too, especially the secondary: they snagged four passes before it was all said and done. It was truly a group effort as Kaesn George, Diego Munoz, and Fernando Prieto picked up one apiece. Prieto also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, picking up a sack and making three total tackles in addition to snagging an interception.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Dexter was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 205 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Jal only rushed for -28.
Dexter will challenge West Las Vegas at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Jal, they will head out to square off against Santa Rosa at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
