Recap: Shipley vs. William Penn Charter Quakers
Shipley pushed their score all the way to 56 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. Their tough 80-56 defeat to William Penn Charter might stick with them for a while. Shipley lost against William Penn Charter in their previous head to head back in December of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 66-50 score last time.
When it comes to explaining why Shipley lost, one person who can't be blamed is Gyasi Miller. Despite the final result, he scored 17 points. The contest was Miller's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Matt Lange was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Shipley's defeat dropped their record down to 2-4. As for William Penn Charter, the win got them back to even at 2-2.
Shipley will be home for the holidays to greet Episcopal Academy at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Episcopal Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past four matches -- so hopefully Shipley likes a good challenge. As for William Penn Charter, they will head out on the road to face off against George School at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
