Baseball Game Preview: Monarch Knights vs. Taravella Trojans

Monarch is 1-9 against Taravella since March of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Monarch Knights will face off against the Taravella Trojans at 6:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

Monarch's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 10-0 margin over Pompano Beach. The game marked the Knights' most dominant win of the season.

The team relied heavily on Noel Soledispa, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI and two doubles. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Jacob Weiner was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Monarch was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .417. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Taravella). Everything went their way against Providence Day on Tuesday as Taravella made off with a 12-1 victory. The Trojans not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 24, 2024.

JC Martinez was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Tyler Morgan, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.

Monarch's win ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-11. As for Taravella, their record now sits at 9-4.

Monarch suffered a grim 8-2 defeat to Taravella when the teams last played back in May of 2022. Can Monarch avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
