Baseball Recap: Gainesville Takes a Loss

Gainesville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They lost 14-6 to the Trenton Tigers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Tigers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 14-2 on March 4th.

Chris Eckhardt was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Cade Dixon was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

Gainesville's defeat dropped their record down to 6-8. As for Trenton, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 14-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Gainesville will take on Lafayette at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lafayette will roll in looking for their ninth straight win, something Gainesville surely won't give up without a fight. As for Trenton, they will square off against South Sumter at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
