Basketball Game Preview: Marana Tigers vs. Rincon/University Rangers

The Marana Tigers will square off against the Rincon/University Rangers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Marana knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 18 contests -- so hopefully Rincon/University likes a good challenge.

On Wednesday, Marana didn't have too much trouble with Sunnyside as they won 81-62.

Meanwhile, Rincon/University was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They took a 62-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of Tucson High Magnet School. While losing is never fun, the Rangers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 158th, while the Badgers are ranked 40th).

Marana is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 13 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.7 points per game. As for Rincon/University, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-12.

Marana came up short against Rincon/University when the teams last played back in February of 2024, falling 65-54. Can Marana avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
