Football Recap: North Iredell Raiders vs. Alexander Central Cougars

North Iredell was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They took a 28-19 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Alexander Central Cougars. The match was a 7-7 toss-up at halftime, but the Raiders couldn't quite close it out.

Despite the loss, North Iredell still got an impressive performance from Kaleb Sales, who rushed for 154 yards and a touchdown while picking up 8.6 yards per carry, and also threw for 152 yards on ten of 15 attempts. HAROLD Jackson was another key player, rushing for 61 yards and a touchdown.

Jeremiah Whitaker went supernova for Alexander Central, rushing for 213 yards and three touchdowns on only 13 carries. The dominant performance gave Whitaker a new career-high in rushing yards. Another big playmaker for Alexander Central was Wade Queen, who returned a punt for a touchdown.

North Iredell's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Alexander Central, their win ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-1.

North Iredell will venture away from home to take on Mountain Island Charter at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Alexander Central, they are taking a road trip to square off against Burns at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Alexander Central focused on turnovers this week as team gave up four on Friday.
