Baseball Recap: Granite Hills Eagles vs. Carlsbad Lancers

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Granite Hills had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They won by a run and slipped past the Carlsbad Lancers 5-4. For Granite Hills, this counts as revenge for the 14-9 defeat Carlsbad walked away with the last time they faced one another back in March of 2021.

Rowan Haynes tossed a big game, pitching 5.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive pitching appearances.

At the plate, Brenden Lewis was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and a double. The team also got some help courtesy of Noah Figuered, who scored a run while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Granite Hills pushed their record up to 21-6 with that victory, which was their eighth straight at home. As for Carlsbad, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 16-14 record this season.

As of now, neither Granite Hills nor Carlsbad have any future games scheduled.
