Softball Recap: Eastlake Takes a Loss

Eastlake was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 6-5 heartbreaker at the hands of the Skyline Spartans. The Wolves were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Spartans apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Mia Atkins made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs while going 4-for-4. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jemma Olson, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Atkins wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Eastlake kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive matches.

Eastlake's loss dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Skyline, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 8-2.

Eastlake and Skyline should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Washington Rankings. Eastlake will square off against Eastside Catholic at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday up 104 places (46 vs. 150). Meanwhile, Skyline (ranked fifth) will meet Juanita (ranked 44th) at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
