Baseball Recap: Schuylkill Haven's Winning Streak Snapped at Eight Games

Schuylkill Haven dropped their record down to 12-3 on Friday, which also ended the team's eight-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Oley Valley Lynx by a score of 9-7. If the Hurricanes were looking for revenge after losing 8-5 to the Lynx when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Oley Valley, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-5. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.5 runs over those games.

For Oley Valley's part, they let Daniel Fries and Timothy Fries run wild. Daniel went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run, while Timothy went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That's the most runs Timothy has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Williamson, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Schuylkill Haven and Oley Valley should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings. The Hurricanes will square off against Pine Grove at 5:00 p.m. on Monday with a big rank advantage (132 vs. 276). Meanwhile, Oley Valley (ranked 240th) will meet Antietam (ranked 618th) at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
