Baseball Recap: New Ulm Picks Up Tenth Straight Win on the Road

New Ulm had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the seven-run drubbing they dealt Waseca on Friday. The Eagles were the clear victors by a 10-3 margin over the Bluejays. The win continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Bluejays: they've now won four in a row.

Cullen Slette looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Zach Hubbard was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four runs, two stolen bases, and two RBI. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Dirk Haynes was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two doubles, one stolen base, and two RBI.

New Ulm pushed their record up to 13-5 with the victory, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Waseca, their loss dropped their record down to 2-13.

Coming up, New Ulm will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Mankato East at 5:00 p.m. As for Waseca, they are taking a road trip to challenge Waterville-Elysian-Morristown at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. The Buccaneers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.27 runs per game on average), something the Bluejays will no doubt try to take advantage of.
