Basketball Game Preview: First Baptist Saints vs. Garland Christian Academy Swordsmen

The First Baptist Saints are taking a road trip to challenge the Garland Christian Academy Swordsmen at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in First Baptist's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last eight matches.

First Baptist is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They claimed a resounding 91-16 win over Cambridge. The Saints have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 22 points or more this season.

First Baptist relied on the efforts of Dylan Jones, who went 13 of 24 en route to 33 points and three steals, and Micah Foster, who went 9 of 12 on his way to 19 points along with eight assists and eight rebounds. Jones' evening made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jett Stamps, who went 6 of 12 on his way to 13 points and four steals.

First Baptist smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 26 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in six consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Garland Christian Academy had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. Everything went their way against the Lions as they made off with a 48-27 victory. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Swordsmen have posted since November 18, 2024.

First Baptist is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.3 points per game. As for Garland Christian Academy, they now have a winning record of 9-8.

First Baptist suffered a grim 72-47 defeat to Garland Christian Academy when the teams last played back in February of 2022. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point First Baptist was down 37-16.
