Baseball Recap: Water Canyon Comes Up Short

Water Canyon extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 18 on Friday, dropping their season record down to 0-12 in the process. They came up short against the Beaver Beavers, falling 22-1. If the Wildcats were looking for revenge after losing 20-0 to the Beavers when the teams met back in March of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Beaver, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 16-3. Considering they have won six contests by more than seven runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

For Beaver's part, Deegan Blackner made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. The dominant performance also gave Blackner a new career-high in strikeouts (five). He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Raider Blomquist, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and five RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March. Noah Wolffe was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs.

While Water Canyon had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
