Basketball Recap: Fairmont Starts Season with Win Against Lumberton

Fairmont took care of business in their home opener on Friday. They came out on top against the Lumberton Pirates by a score of 48-37. The Golden Tornadoes haven't had any issues with the Pirates recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.

Fairmont can attribute much of their success to Lyric McNair, who went 6-for-10 en route to 16 points along with seven assists and seven boards. McNair is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last three games she's played dating back to last season. Jayda Dial was another key player, putting up ten points and three blocks.

Fairmont has already played their next game, a 39-17 defeat against Hoggard on the 17th. Hopefully Lumberton paid attention to the Golden Tornadoes' matchup: the next time they hit the field, they'll take on the Golden Tornadoes at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
