Baseball Recap: Cherry Creek Takes Down Riverdale Ridge in a Playoff Battle

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Cherry Creek walked away with it. They blew past the Riverdale Ridge Ravens 11-1 on Saturday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Bruins.

Ryan Falke tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Connor Larkin was incredible, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with one home run, six RBI, and one double. Those six RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Eli Rose, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one triple, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Cherry Creek always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Riverdale Ridge only posted an OBP of .227.

Cherry Creek's victory bumped their record up to 18-5-1. As for Riverdale Ridge, the defeat snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 17-7 record.

Cherry Creek has already played their next contest, an 8-0 win against Denver North on the 17th. As for Riverdale Ridge, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 10-4 victory against Northfield on the 17th.
