Basketball Game Preview: Northwest Cabarrus Trojans vs. Concord Spiders

Northwest Cabarrus hasn't had much luck against Concord recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Northwest Cabarrus Trojans will head out to take on the Concord Spiders at 7:30 p.m. Northwest Cabarrus has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

On Tuesday, Northwest Cabarrus was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 84-83 to Robinson. While losing is never fun, the Trojans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 225th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 89th).

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Concord, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They walked away with a 73-61 win over Carson on Tuesday.

Concord's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-4. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 79.3 points per game. As for Northwest Cabarrus, their defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 8-5.

Northwest Cabarrus couldn't quite finish off Concord in their previous meeting back in January of 2024 and fell 68-66. Can Northwest Cabarrus avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
