Mountain View snaps three-game streak of wins at home

Recap: Mountain View Bruins vs. Layton Christian Academy Eagles

On Tuesday, the Mountain View Bruins faced the Layton Christian Academy Eagles in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Mountain View fell 67-58 to Layton Christian Academy. Mountain View's loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Mountain View lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Conner Fairbanks, who scored 26 points. That was a full 44.8% of Mountain View's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Simeon Suguturaga, who scored 15 points along with nine rebounds and two steals.

Even though they lost, Mountain View smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Layton Christian Academy only pulled down nine offensive rebounds.

Otavio Armani was his usual excellent self, scoring 19 points along with six rebounds and three steals for Layton Christian Academy. The team also got some help courtesy of Alan Gballou, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds and three blocks.

Mountain View's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-6. As for Layton Christian Academy, the win was the 13th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-2.

Mountain View will head out on the road to face off against Payson at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Layton Christian Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Provo at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Provo will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Utah Rankings (they are ranked 43rd, while Layton Christian Academy is ranked fifth).
