Basketball Recap: East Chapel Hill Wins Going Away Against Northern Durham

East Chapel Hill hasn't had quite the year their fans were hoping for to this point, but back-to-back wins may be a sign of good things to come. They strolled past the Northern Durham Knights with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 78-64. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 70-58 last Monday.

East Chapel Hill had a senior duo take command as Bennett Corley went 10-for-18 en route to 26 points and Makai Rhodes almost dropped a double-double with 19 points and nine boards. The dominant performance also gave Rhodes a new career-high in field goal percentage (78%). Delvonn Smith also deserves some recognition as he posted his first assist of the season.

East Chapel Hill was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. They racked up six more assists than Northern Durham's also-impressive total of 13.

Northern Durham lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Damien Bostic, who went 6-for-12 on his way to 16 points along with six rebounds and three steals. He is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last four games he's played. Camden Riley was another key player, going 7-for-12 to rack up 17 points.

East Chapel Hill's win bumped their record up to 5-12. As for Northern Durham, they dropped their record down to 5-14 with the defeat, which was their seventh straight on the road.

East Chapel Hill wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 66-61 loss against Riverside-Durham on the 3rd. As for Northern Durham, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, an 85-45 defeat against Jordan on the 3rd.
